Nashista, son of the White Witch Vistania, and Dragor the Beloved, descended from ten generations of alchemists, wizards, warriors, and kings, was born amidst the ancient castles and forests of Eulonia, a fair day's ride from the foothills of the Yural mountains.
Though the power and magic of his lineage flowed strongly in his blood, from early on Nashista became enraptured with the musician's world, having been led there by his mother's voice, sweet and clear as mountain air, which filled all his days with the songs of the ancient oracles.

Traveling incognito for many years throughout North America as singer, songwriter, and guitarist Michael Alan Kowal, Nashista rooted his musical background solidly in extensive live performance on the folk music circuit. Billing himself as 'Uniquely Original in the Folk Tradition', he enchanted cafe and music hall audiences from coast to coast.

A synthesist at heart, Nashista left folk music in 1996 for a lifelong dream of orchestral score writing. For the past 16 years he has focused primarily on writing music for small, independent films, and has produced several cds in the meditative, ambient, and world genres for the healing practices of Yoga, Tai Chi, QiGong, and bodywork.
His two newest releases are entitled 'In the Garden of Enlightenment', a guided meditation, (2010), and 'Gaia Ma', (A Yogic Journey), (2011), following his two very popular works, 'The Sacred Voice Within', (2005), and 'Forever My Child of Autumn', (2007).

It is my sincerest hope and prayer that you may find joy in taking time to hear and absorb this music. I believe that it does not come from me outwardly as a musician, but from a deeper place of connection to what I understand as my own source of Divine Energy. And, this Energy, God, The Creator, The Way, Tao, Great Spirit, all as individually named as there are souls to speak of it, resides within each and every one of us with the same inner presence that speaks only of knowing, and knows only truth.
This body of work, evolved over a year's worth of moments experienced in deep meditation, is intended to represent our human ability to manifest beauty through finding one's inner voice of creative expression. I truly believe that it is through seeking the quiet place of contemplation within our individual existence, that we can begin to connect with others', as well as our own Divine Energy. Through centuries of cultural and religious influence, the human race has been taught that we exist separately from the animal kingdom and believe that because of our greater brain capacity, we have the right to manipulate and govern all other species. In relinquishing our acknowledgment of the scientific fact that we are indeed intrinsically connected to all other species, and having mismanaged our planet to the point of its imminent collapse, we have forfeited our birthright to a healthy and prosperous future. Existing without cognitive connection to this very essence of our cellular makeup has left us barren and searching for meaning. We have been living collective human lives that reflect a "motherless" upbringing, a lack of connection to our true nature, as one with Gaia Ma, our Earth Mother.
May this music inspire us all to awaken to the understanding that we, as the most evolved species on the planet, have not only a capability, but a responsibility to create a more survivable life for all sentient beings and the Earth we call home.
